Led by Dennis Prior 484-4452

Co-leader(s): TBD

You MUST arrive AT LEAST 20-30 minutes early, as the group will depart at 7 AM SHARP.
Roll call
will be at 6:45 AM. If you are late, you will not be allowed to ride.

The Mountain Goats will be doing the 6th Annual Mountain Goat King Ridge Beginners  - see route below - 50 miles and 5000’ of elevation.

This will be open to all riders A-D.  The emphasis will be on helping the folks who want to try this challenging ride. Your leader, Dennis Prior, will be riding off the back with a bunch of the other Mountain Goats coaxing the new folks along the route.

For those doing this ride for the first time you will need to get your climbing legs in shape…. or acquire some climbing legs if you haven’t been doing any hills.  You will need to do a bunch of 3,000’ and hopefully some 4000’ climbs with 40-50 miles on these rides to give yourself a good chance for success on this ride. You won’t have to worry about keeping up with anyone else as you will have a group of the Mountain Goats going at whatever pace you choose going up the hills.

We will also have a SAG in case someone breaks down on the ride.

Here is a list of rides and climbs that you can do to prepare yourself for this challenging ride. Cavedale, Trinity, Sonoma Mountain, Lichau, Los Alamos, Coleman Valley, Joy Road, Ft. Ross Rd, The Geysers, Pine Flat,  Pine Mtn, Rockpile (this is a good one), Ida Clayton and the first 10 miles of Skaggs Springs Road.  These are the ones that come to mind but I’m sure there are others.

There will be someone at Tin Barn and King Ridge with water and a few snacks if someone needs that before we get to Ratna Ling up on Hauser Bridge.

Make sure your bike is in good working order with tires that are in good shape as well and make sure you have a couple of spare tubes as well total with you with plenty of CO2 cartridges or a good pump.

This is not a race and we encourage people to take their time and enjoy the gorgeous scenery that is available throughout the ride. The views are just stunning!

Pre-registration for this ride is required (not including the leader/leaders). This ride is for SRCC members only.

Registration will close at midnight the night before the ride is scheduled.
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration as far in advance as possible (login to the SRCC website, go to the event page, click “already registered,” and then click the button to cancel).
