TOUR IS FULL

This tour will take you from Santa Barbara to Imperial Beach with an optional trip to the U.S. / Mexico Border.  The return to Santa Barbara will be by train (Amtrak). The total mileage for the tour is approximately 300 miles.  There will be up to 3 different pace groups, ranging from A to B Pace, led by tour staff.  The tour is FULL with 41 participants.

The tour will be of the “Inn to Inn” style.  Also known as a “credit card tour.”  Participants will be responsible for getting themselves to Santa Barbara (with carpooling opportunities) by the afternoon of October 14 and home after the tour on October 21.  There will be two SAG vehicles with trailers/racks that will provide support (including snacks and lunch), transportation for luggage from hotel-to-hotel each day, and transportation for bikes back from San Diego while participants are on the train.

Approximate Costs

Hotels (most of which include breakfast) and dinners (at restaurants) will be paid for directly by participants, with the exception of the final night dinner where there will be a beach BBQ provided by the tour.  The per person cost for accommodations for 7 nights will range from about $1,200 total for single occupancy, $600 for double occupancy, and less for triple or quad occupancy.  During registration, you will be able to indicate if you will share a room with a spouse/partner/friend or would be willing to be paired with someone to share a room, which will lower the overall cost.

Blocks of rooms are being held and have been contracted at SRCC rates at each of the hotels. You MUST stay in the contracted hotels. After registration, there will be instructions about how to provide a credit card guarantee for your room. Hotel information and dining options for each location are HERE.

Once registered, we will organize room arrangements, pace groups, carpooling options, etc. If you drive a personal vehicle to Santa Barbara, there will be parking at the Amtrak station available for $5/day.

The fee to SRCC of $425 per person will cover:

  • Breakfast (where hotels do not provide)
  • Lunch and snacks each day
  • Dinner on the final tour night
  • SAG/gear/bike transport during the tour
  • Train (Amtrak) and ferry (to Coronado) tickets
  • Insurance and support including a tour leader for each stage.
