Nine days, Seven stages, 290-460 miles

Explores Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, traveling from south (near Santa Barbara) to north (Paso Robles). Excellent routes every day, with long and short options that should work for anyone from moderate to hardcore riders. Five nights in motels and only three camping.

Registration opens at 7:00 pm on January 24. Tour fee is $250 and $50 is due at the time of registration by PayPal and the balance is due on or before February 24.

The $250 per person fee includes:

  • Daily sag support 
  • Campsites on our three camping days plus all associated meals
  • Pocket food for during rides on the motel days

What’s not included:
  • Five nights in motels and all associated meals
  • Gas for car pool rides

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancel prior to February 24, you will receive a full refund.
  • Cancel prior to March 14, you will receive a $150 refund unless your place on the roster can be filled by someone else*.
  • No refund after March 14 unless your place on the roster can be filled by someone else*.

*If SRCC is able to replace you with someone from the tour waiting list, or in the case of medical or family emergencies, refunds of up to the full tour fee, less any costs expended and not refunded to SRCC due to the cancellation, may be granted. Note: tour cancellation fees vary based on tour costs and financial obligations.

We reserve the right to cancel or modify trips for any reason if circumstances make it necessary. In the event that SRCC needs to cancel, we will do our best to provide a 30 day notice and a full refund for monies received. Refunds will be for the tour fee only, less any costs expended and not refunded to SRCC due to the cancellation, and do not include transportation, hotel or other expenses incurred on the part of tour participants. Tours are generally held rain or shine.


Saturday, May 12
Car pool from Santa Rosa to Sage Hill Group Camp. Approximately 6-hour drive.

Sunday, May 13
Stage 1: Camino Cielo Loops
26, 47, 50, 56, 58, 60, 67 miles, 2600’-9300’

Over the top of the Santa Ynez Mountains and down to Montecito, then back along legendary Gibraltar and East Camion Cielo Roads. A journey to the Highlight Zone. Camp the first two nights in Sage Hill Group Camp, Paradise Canyon.

Monday, May 14
Stage 2: Sage Hill to Buellton
34, 56, 61 miles, 2600’-6000’

From the Santa Ynez Mountains down into Santa Ynez Valley. Short routes stay in the valley; long route loops up and over Figeoroa Mountain...rugged, challenging, and beautiful. After stage begins three nights in motel in Buellton.

Tuesday, May 15
Stage 3: The Canyons Loop
43, 58, 79 miles, 2900’-5400’

The essential Santa Ynez Valley Loop, visiting Ballard Canyon, Foxen Canyon, Alisos Canyon (shortcut), Tepesquet Canyon (bonus miles), Cat Canyon, and Drum Canyon.

Wednesday, May 16
Stage 4: Jalama Beach
36, 42, 69, 71 miles, 1800’-4800’

Out-&-back to remote Jalama Beach with an option to visit one of the most interesting of the early California missions: La Purisima. Mostly mellow valley miles but a few substantial climbs and descents.

Thursday, May 17
Stage 5: Solvang-Nojoqui Falls (travel day)
21, 31 miles, 1200’-1700’

Short rides in the morning before moving car pool fleet north—1.5-hour drive—to Santa Margarita Lake in the afternoon for our only other night of camping. Rides include a visit to the Danish village of Solvang and to a pretty park and waterfall.

Friday, May 18
Stage 6: Santa Margarita Lake to Paso Robles
54, 64, 75 miles, 3200’-4900’

A stage featured on at least two past club tours and well worth repeating. Dream miles all day long. End of stage begins two nights in motel in Paso Robles.

Saturday, May 19
Stage 7: Paso Robles Loop
51, 58, 60, 68 miles, 3100’-4100’

Some roads done on past tours but many new ones as well. A relatively easy stage in the rolling hills—vineyards and woods—to the NE and NW of Paso Robles. Another nearly perfect bike ride.

Sunday, May 20
Car pool home from Paso Robles to Santa Rosa. Approximately 5-hour drive.
